Our purpose

Makiki Talks is an online community network powered by Ning.com. The purpose of Makiki Talks is to take a service-based and politically-informed approach to providing Makiki residents and those interested in urban Makiki with:

•  A forum to discuss the betterment of urban Makiki through community service, public policy, and social/economic activism;

•  Relevant information about events, resources, and organizations of note in Makiki;

•  A means to partner with other community members to create and promote positive events, organizations, and initiatives in the Makiki community;

•  An opportunity for open and candid dialogue between Makiki leaders and their constituents, through which urban concerns can be met and addressed, challenges can be met and overcome, and ideas can become actions; and

•  A citizen resource to city and state government, so that any interested participants may become informed of and active in the civic process.
